Art And Biography Of Nancy Acosta
An award winning artist. She shows her work in the "Collector Western Art Shows", mostly in the Northwest. Her work has also been seen in South West Art Magazine, and mentioned in Art Of The West magazine and numerous news papers. Though the majority of her works reflect the people of the 1800's she also enjoys doing horses. She displays this in her paintings of her Native American and cowboy friends. Acosta, self taught, has developed her skills in portrait and equine art. She prepared herself by being involved with living history groups and events, such as the 150 Year Anniversary of the Oregon Trail in the state of Washington, where she was residing at the time. She lived as our ancestors for a week, in period clothes, tents, cooking on open fires, walking and riding the old trails in a period wagon. She said "It was marvelous". This personal experience she brings to her art and illustrations. With extensive research and photography studies, she prepares herself to capture the essence of the people and events long past onto her canvases. In 1997 she and her husband purchased the Steelhead Run Bed & Breakfast in Glide, Oregon where they remodeled an old 3 car garage into a gallery-gift and frame shop to show display her work.Reasonally the gallery was closed, and the art work moved to all the rooms, apartments and into the Bed & Breakfast. The work is still for sale. A small gift shop has been set up in the loby. The custom frame shop is still in business. The gallery area was need to create an apartment for Nancy's father. You can still see the fine art, just make arrangements and Nancy will give you a tour of the Bed and Breakfast and Triplex rooms.
